LOST IN THE ALPS :: “HIT THE ROAD” (EPISODE 3)

By David Aronson | 2009-01-01

This was the first day of the bike ride. We picked up our motorcycles, made some adjustments, then off we went. We start down the road for a brief stop in Monte Carlo (Monaco) before heading into the foothills of the Alps. We end the day with an unplanned over-night in Sospel (France) due to running low on fuel (the village ran out of fuel too) and the approaching rain.

By David Aronson | 2009-01-01

The day begins in Sospel (France) with loading up on the fuel that just arrived into the village. It would be too easy to take the tunnel through the mountains to Italy, but we take the “Drunken Dragon Trail”…sober of course. We pass through Cuneo & Saluzzo (Italy) before ending the day in Pinerolo (Italy).

LOST IN THE ALPS :: “CONFUSED BUT NOT LOST” (EPISODE 6)

By David Aronson | 2009-01-01

Leaving Susa (Italy), we get confused…but not lost…in a small village called Giaglione (Italy) and eventually cross the Alps via “The Road of Stones” to Col du Mont Cenis (France). Northeast of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France) was the best ride I have ever had running through the “twisties”. It was a short-cut that turned out to be a great ride of “follow the leader” across the Swiss border. The day ends with our arrival into Martigny (Switzerland).

Departing Gap (France), we get back into the “twisties”, passing through Jausiers (France) and Cuneo (Italy). Come play a game of “Judge My Pass”…you’ll see. We end the day by returning to Sospel (France), where we meet up with some friends that we made here.
