The spirit of the holidays is here. Mall parking lots are full of cars, houses are lit up and full of life, and kids will soon be searching the skies for an old jolly fellow that rides in a sleigh behind flying reindeer…with their gift on board.
Have you got all of your gifts in order? Do any of these gifts involve a pet? Perhaps a gift for your pet, or maybe a new family member…an eager pet. After you are sure you can responsibly offer a home to a pet, may I suggest giving a home to a loving “orphan,” rather than supporting a “puppy mill.”
Today I was at the Humane Society taking photos of some of their new arrivals: dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and a ferret. As I spent a brief period of time with each, I felt compelled to share with you the attractive option of adopting a pet from an animal shelter such as the Humane Society of Broward County. If you were looking for a gift for the pet you already have, may I suggest that you take a look at their Pet Boutique. Any items purchased here go to a good cause…feeding the cats and dogs that are sheltered here.
Here are just two of the many reasons to consider adopting a loving companion:
Reason 1: Polly (ID# 404327) is a 2 year old Brussels Griffon mix who came to the shelter as a stray and her family has not come looking for her. She is a bit shy and is going to do best in a home with older children.
Reason 2: Chai (ID# 400098) is a 7 week old female kitten who is sweet and loving.
